Holidays are approaching soon, and when the holidays roll around, most of us indulge in far more food and drink than we usually do, dealing with the various stressors of the season (travel, family gatherings, end-of-year budget woes). This year, in light of those annual realities, why not consider giving your loved ones—or yourself—presents that are healthy?
1 Fitness, Meditation, or Health Coaching classes from the local studios and trainers/coaches.
The holiday season is an excellent time of the year for the gift like this because most of these services will offer specials, packages bundles, promotions, and gift cards. It is an excellent gift because, after the holiday season, it is time to start fresh and to (re)introduce healthy habits.
2 Massage at the local spa.
Who doesn’t like a good massage? Relaxing day at the spa is a great way to unwind and de-stress. Massage improves circulation, eliminates toxins, improves flexibility, sleep, reduces fatigue.
P.S. Don’t forget to get one for yourself!
3 Gift baskets or a gift card from your local organic markets, cafes, or local farmers’ markets.
A diet rich in plants and whole foods can benefit your health. And fruits and vegetables that are in season and grown locally are most nutritious. Give a gift to your friend or family member by taking advantage of the changing abundance of produce from season to season. Some of the local markets I can recommend that also deliver daily or monthly are Grow Market, Great American Seafood Market, Farm Fresh to You (fresh produce delivered to your door from the C.A. farms). Some of the local farmer’s markets in their area will let you purchase a gift certificate or credits.
4 Activity trackers
Today there are many options in this category. From many apps to many trackers like FitBit, Apple Watch, Motiv Ring. They even have ones for kids like LeapFrog LeapBand and Yo-Yo Fit Slim.
For adults fitness, trackers motivate us to reach our health and fitness goals by tracking our activity, exercise, sleep, weight, and more. Today many of them are very advanced, and the programs can be individually customized. Tracking our actions will help us reach short and long term goals.
For kids, they motivate and encourage active play and healthy habits.
5 Fitness gears and accessories
Even if your spouse or the loved one or even your kids don’t take yoga or Pilates classes, I am sure they enjoy some fun outdoor or indoor activities. Maybe their bicycle needs a new cup holder or bell? Or their golf hat or visor needs an update? The list is endless.
6 Good book
Stating a New Year with a great book about Positivity, Motivation,Personal Growth, can be very inspiring and motivating.
Our overall Well -Being is not just about counting calories or exercising. Well -being is a healthy and energetic body but also a reflective and alert mind and a loving and compassionate heart.
I wish you and your family a healthy and happy Holiday Season!
